Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards here.

CHRISTMAS RULE NUMBER EIGHT:
Same for pies. Apple, pumpkin, mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apple and one pumpkin. Always have three! When else do you get to have more than one dessert?

CHRISTMAS RULE NUMBER SEVEN:
If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

CHRISTMAS RULE NUMBER SIX:
Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you will need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

CHRISTMAS RULE NUMBER FIVE:
Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free... lots of it.

CHRISTMAS RULE NUMBER FOUR:
As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

CHRISTMAS RULE NUMBER THREE:
If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

CHRISTMAS RULE NUMBER TWO :
Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare... You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to... turn into an eggnog-oholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me... Have two.

CHRISTMAS RULE NUMBER ONE:
Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday
buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately.... Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

Under our nose.
JUST finished researching and writing about a local festival in my hometown called "Berwick Gala Days".
I was very un-educated on the background and history of this event and what all gos into making a event such as this one successful, after my research i then discovered that my town as lot of fun events in it and the causes they work for are unbelievable, just the amount of work and help that gos into this, just to read about all the volunteers and business owners that come together to make one event work. They do say many hands make light work . it takes estimated 70 people to organize and help throughout the weekend .
Just to imagine this festival all started my one man for a local park (which is a beautiful park) Rainforest park, Berwick NS . The Man ( H.E. Lindsay) wanted to raise money for this park and had a one day event filled with children's activities and farm shows and parades, followed by a dinner at the local church and ending the evening with a dance at the community hall .
All these events still go on today throughout the weekend with additions of many more fun things !
But if you will just stop and think about how one man wanted something so badly that he went out and made it happen. What a inspiration to everyone from that community ! berwick is FILLED with amazing history and leaders, now this event has grown to become a labour day weekend long festival with large media attention and surrounding community's that come and join in with fund raising for the local sports and club teams throughout the community, helping families who want to help their children in a passion of sports or arts but cant.
this festival has raised in the past up to $30,000 dollars for their community and has seen 7,000 people travel to their town .
I've been to this event every year since i was a little girl but people do not realize how great something is until they step back and education themselves on it . Its amazing to be part of a community that has so much love put into it, grandparents come every year to join in on their past, family's come to start their own traditions for their families and everyone throughout the town stops what their doing that week so that they can help, the town doesn't even need to help the community, they just want too.
I'm proud to be apart of the little town with alot to offer .

Mediterranean Pride
I just went to this fantastic little bistro yesterday in Kentville, called Pizzazz Bistro. This fabulous restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Kentville and features Mediterranean themed dishes. Now I could go on and on about how EKCC honoured Pizzazz Bistro as outstanding new business of the year in 2009 , all their dishes are prepared from scratch and features locally grown foods and that the head Chef is amazing ! but i will let you all see that for yourself as i encourage everyone to go and try their bistro ! All fresh breads and fruits & vegetables , this piece of heaven is perfect for a lunch time snack or a romance night out on the town :)
i will leave the link to their website just here so everyone can look through it .
thanks again Iztok Pahole and Sanja Pahole!

Going Southwest with a hint of Dash
Just came back from a three day Tourism conference it was eye opening and informative , i learned a lot about travel and a new reason to look at like differently .
There was a speaker there named RedDog and he spoke about your Dash in life, how to change your life if you want to and how to look at yourself and world around you. I now believe fear is a state of mind and life is what you make of it. i want to live my life to the fullest and realize what i was created for in this life. I'm going to try everything i can once and twice if i like it :)
there was also another speaker that this event that was one of the former CEO of Southwest Airlines and one quote that really stuck with me was ,
"Turbulence is inevitable but misery is optional" - Howard Putman .

Giving Romance a New Look
during your travels around the world, always keep in mind;
when one thing ends something else begins ...
this is when love happens

Chocolate = life ?
i was looking for something sweet today for a snack, so i went upstairs to the candy machines and come to realize that i was standing there for 10 minutes undecided on a snack yet. Thinking to myself what am i waiting for? someone to come along and pick one out for me ..
and it seems that just it ! i am a college student that cant decide on what to do with my plans after college and i cant even decide on a candy !
is this what the world has been showing the "kids of the future" not to plan anything without help.
if today's future cant even pick out a candy bar how can we pick out a plan for our life .
do we still need our parents for everything.. do I still my mom for everything ?
